Masson
Masson- He is one of Raymond's friends. He invites Raymond, Marie, and Meursault to their home by the beach. They enjoyed and went to the beach, then ate. After eating, Raymond Masson, and Meursault went walking along the beach. Two Arabs that had been following Raymond were approaching them slowly. When they came together, they fought and Masson got injured badly.
How this affected the book:
They went to cover the injury at Masson's house. Meursault did not want to go in and have to explain what happened so he went walking again. It was very hot and after walking a while, he came to a place where one Arab was lying there. Meursault shot for some reason and killed him. He shot once and then paused. He then fired 4 more shots. That was the crime he was put in court for. Although the book focuses on Maman's death as key evidence to Meursault's crime, it seems like the heat was playing with him and made him kill the Arab on accident.
